Hey guys!

Me and my hubby are ready to start trying for a baby but I want to get my diet to the best it can be and start taking supplements etc to do everything I can for a healthy pregnancy and birth.

I was just wondering, in your opinion, is there a best time of year to have a baby? I know this sounds silly and you can't really plan when you will fall pregnant but I just wanted your opinions. I ask this question as my friend had her baby last June and it was boiling hot everyday and he was always very upset. Her mum is a midwife and said it was because of the heat as he was so uncomfortable. He even had a fan next to his play gym. Other factors may include if they were born in September/November/December they would be one of the oldest in their class at school and that must be a good thing.

I'm probably looking far too much into this but was just interested to hear your opinions! Thanks xxx

I'm really trying for a Spring baby. We live in CA and the summers are extremely hot. You might not want to be very pregnant in the heat. Also, your baby will be a little bit older by the time Halloween and the holidays come around, which would make it more fun.

Don't get too attached to the dates though. As you can see from this site, it could take a while to get pregnant.

No, I think it really all matters when you want to have a baby! If you want to have a summer baby that is fine. You just dress your baby in a onesie or just a diaper and keep him cool. Keep him out of the direct sun and you'll be fine! A winter baby is okay too. You just dress your baby in an extra layer than what you would wear. Layers are key. That way, if baby is hot you can remove a layer. If baby gets cold, add a layer. Spring and Fall can be chilly too, just do the layer thing! What it all boils down too is common sense. Use your better judgement when dressing baby. And I'm sure you realize that no matter how much planning you do, when you get pregnant is when you get pregnant!

HAHAHAHA. I live in Arizona, which means triple didgets in the summer and spring, and guess who's going to be VERY pregnant during the worst of this time?(Due in Sept won't really cool off until end of Oct or Nov) So if you live in a hot place my suggestion is be big during the winter (or in my case the cooler months since it really doesn't get below 60s during the day and cold at night.) Also this helps in that by the time your baby is older s/he can be brought outside w/o having to worry about overheating the baby and such. Just be happy when you are pregnant and such. And good luck!

early spring. My son was born in December, and i was always worried about him being too cold at night. My sister had a baby in feb, and its been great. The weather was cool during the last 3 months of her pregnancy, when you are heavy and hot all the time.

it would depend on where you live as well... i was born in january and have heard the story of how i almost didn't make it to a hospital due to the bad snowy weather.... my nephew was born in february and it was very icy that day and took for a troublesome commute to the hospital... then you also have to factor in the holidays too... my husband was born in Nov. right near thanksgiving. i've always heard that the summer months, depending on where you live can be the worst. my husband's cousin has two june babies and she couldn't stand the heat at all...

My first son was born in August..my second one is also due in August.
I didnt plan it like that, I think women are more fertile certain times of year or certain months.
I think spring, summer is a nice time to have a baby. Think of the lovely birthday parties they can have outside, and it's not overshadowed like winter is with christmas.

I had my eldest in Jan and it's quite annoying coz he gets loads of Christmas presents then it's his b-day!
Youngest is Sept and he was born that year we had really hot weather in the UK and I was so hot I could barely go out!!
I think Spring-July is good!!
But I feel blessed to have my children whenever they were born and so will u!!

Early in the year - Feb would be favourite. But it's a bit of a lottery, you may not be able to control the date that closely
