Only the finals goes 2-3-2. They set that up in the mid 80's when the Lakers and Celtics were spending all their time flying from one end of the country to the other.

only the finals go 2-3-2. This was done because it was always lakers vs boston, lakers vs. knicks, etc. and needed to cut down on commercial flying. This is not needed anymore since all teams have private jets.

all but the Finals. finals are 2-3-2. i think they do itt cause of the time zone changes, make it easier on the players jet lag
