I've lived here 30 years, written a book on hurricane prep for small boats and can say from hazy memory.the only direct strikes..ie eye wall passage... since Marilyn in 95 were Bertha and Georges ( look up the dates at the site I gave) both were about 100 miles an hour here which wasn't fun but very survivable......now, Marilyn at 135 was about twice as strong ( force goes up as a square of the wind speed; 80 mph is 4 times 40, not twice; 150 is 2.25 times 100, not 50% more, or NINE times 50 miles an hour!!!)

so Marilyn is the one we remember.......now in the last ten years we have had close passage by a bunch of storms; so how many days in ten years have we had sustained tropical storm force winds ? Well, its like asking how many days did it snow in Boston the last ten years....a bunch of days and it wasnt pleasant when it was doing it but you hunkered down and got on with life the next day.....
