No. Many attorneys do things such as wills and estates, municipal zoning and planning issues, real estate issues, partnership and corporate law, where attorney can PREVENT a problem from happening, or wherethe people involve just don't knowwhat needs to be done.
But there are the ambulance chasers, sometimes they're neeed, sometimes they
are not.
Even criminal lawyers do some good.
For example, you commit a crime, the lawyer may help you plead guilty to a lesser crime, which saves the cost of a trial.
The bloodsuckers are those and who would like to have you believe you need a lawyer for things you can easily do yourself.

No not all. It's just the 99% who give the other 1% a bad name! Seriously, many attorneys do not get paid based on settlements (criminal prosecutors, court-appointed defense attorneys, etc. get paid a salary, regardless of outcomes).

Not all, but a great many of them!
Anyone who would put in the schooling, and the insane numbers of hours they tend to work, is probably driven by morals and ethics or by money.
I don't have the foggiest idea what the % would be, but I'd venture to say there's more in it for the money than helping others.
