Seems we still have a military code of conduct and firing squads can be assembled quickly under war time and execution of traitors done with all expediency .

Former can do what they want, but current military leaders still have to answer to GWB and the American public.

Former and current military leaders need to speak the truth. The American people are paying their salaries and paying for the war...therefore, the people need to understand the truth. Spinning the facts - by politicians or military leaders - is what got us into this mess in the first place. And now that we are there...its time for a little truth. And if they feel the people can't handle the truth, they should remain silent.

Exactly the opposite.

'Speaking of Victory in Iraq' is crazy talk - with the current administration and its refusal to deal with reality, there will be no victory, only prolonged defeat.

I'm glad to hear some former military leaders speaking out - they aren't denigrating our troops - they are simply pointing out the incompetence at the highest level of command.

Dubya and Dick are failures - and should be held responsible.

They do have the right especially if they are former leaders since they are now civilians. Why would they not want to speak out in favor of pulling their former colleagues from harms way or at least speak of how poorly things have been managed.

Suggesting a firing squad for a former or current military leader who chooses the right of freedom of speech is barbaric. Possibly, you live outside of the USA. We've evolved into a civilized society.

Current military leaders are limited to what they can say. They have to support the war, whether they believe in it or not. A former leader can say whatever he/she wants about the war. They aren't limited anymore.

You would hope that they would serve their country by providing the best possible analysis of a military situation and advising the Commander in Chief of the best and most advantageous course of action. Less than that and they are political hacks and not worthy of their uniform.

Ah, so you believe that lying about what they see happening over there in Iraq should be considered patriotic.

That's just like when one cop keeps silent about their knowledge of other cops on the take.

I know. We citizens shouldn't worry our pretty little heads about facts or truth. We should just continue to pony up our sons and daughters and place them into the hands of our Almighty administration who has such a wonderful track record so far with telling the truth.

I would prefer that they wouldn't, but the fiasco in Iraq has become the exception.

The war has been so badly mismanaged that I no longer take issue with former generals speaking out.

Especially since Bush refuses to do anything but stay the course.

No one should be allowed to say anything !!!

Is that the way you cons want it?

God Forbid that these honorable men finally tell the truth after their careers have been threatened by this administration for years.!!

while in the military no soldier should say anything that does not support his commander-in-chief however, once the uniform comes off they are civilians and have every right to question the validity of this country's course of action.
