That's my point. a 1 day "gas out" does nothing! so why dont we pick a day in the week and do it every week for a few months........ that might hurt a little more right?!?!?!?!

regardless of what effect it may have, it can't hurt anyone but the idiots on here claiming you shouldn't do it...go for it, I never buy gas anyways...walking is heralthier and far cleaner...forget all these people here who are tools of the Bush administration and their oil interests.

What we need to do is organize a boycott where we refuse to buy a certain companies gas for like a month... For example the month of June if we all boycott all exxon mobile gas stations and buy our gas from others that will hurt them enough to react... Then once they have listened to us, then we need to boycott Citgo or another gas company until they lower their prices... and so on.... If we just do it in one day and boycott all gas stations it will not matter!!! The result will be the day before and after they will have a big enough spike in gas sales that the one day won't hurt their profits in the least. I would be for a boycott of one or two companies at a time....

maybe instead of a gas boycott we should do a stay at home weekend. no travel, no driving or anything that uses energy. spend the weekend with family/friends and use as little energy as possible. people would just fill up the day before or after with the gas boycott where as if you were to leave off your hvac and grill out, anything to not use energy, that would definitely be more effective. set a date and i'll be there.

I believe the gist of it was not to buy gas. So, I will not buy gas to support my fellow americans. History has shown that there is strength in numbers. If only half of the country didn't buy gas..or a third...or a fourth..it would still be a very large memo to the oil companies. Whether it will change anything or not...time will tell..it hasn't before.

That has been tried before and it didn't work. First of all people will fill tonight or on Wednesday and thus the oil companies will still make their profits. Many of the filling stations are owned by ordinary people just trying to make a living. Do you want to hurt their business becuse you have a beef with their supplier? The faster we go to cars that don't use petrolium the faster we can divest ourselves of this problem.

Want to do something that WILL make a difference?
Pick a day a week, and DO NO DRIVE on that day. And do this every week from now on.
Just not buying gas one day will do nothing whatsoever.

I'm going to fill up my tank. The oil companies won't be "hurt." We need gas to conduct our lives.
I suggest all people who support the boycott should stop using petroleum COMPLETELY.
Although, that means they would have to give up just about EVERYTHING. Petroleum is not only used for cars. It's used in the following industries:
Food production
Wood products
Medicines and medical technology
Plastics
Chemicals
Building materials
Heating and cooling
etc.
We need to drill in ANWR, buy from Russia, and send OPEC the message, not oil companies.

This will have no effect at all .
Everyone needs and relies on gas and oil products to survive .
They can wait us out no matter how long it takes and still make profits .
This stuff comes out of the ground like water does and for years they have been ripping us all offf .
Think about how many water treatment plants we have verses oil refineries we operate .

I don't buy any gasoline at all, since over a year ago with OPEC's record profits. I moved downtown and bought a building and walk everywhere locally to get anything I need. That is my boycott. I can wait until Hillary Clinton becomes President and makes all of this right again. I lived through Ronald Reagan and was better prepared for George W Bush this time. I just make the Republicans pay for the gasoline, and laugh.

It will have no effect unless everybody seriously starts driving less and using a lot less gas.
If I don't do that I'll still fill up eventually and I doubt they care if it's tomorrow or the next day.

I probably wont need gas tomorrow, but if for some strange reason I do (my tank is at 3/4), I will stop and get some.
Maybe I will top it off tomorrow, since all the ding dongs who dont get gas tomorrow will be jamming up the pumps on wednesday.
