I recently purchased Yazmin. My doctor didn't provide me with enough information about it, and i'm new to this whole "pill" thing, so I was just wondering when I should take it? The booklet included says the day I start or the Sunday proceeding the day I start. I'm supposed to start on the 26th. Is it not effective if I start taking it, say, today? And If I do start the day my period begins, when will it be effective by? That week? The following week? And are there any women out there that can tell me how their Yazmin experience has been? Any odd side effects? So many questions!

I have had good luck on Yas. Start taking it the Sunday after your period even if your still on your period. Meaning if you started on lets say Tues but are still on your period go ahead and start your pack.

When to take your pill. You need to take it at time that your going to remember. So, in the morning when your getting ready or evening when your getting ready for bed are the best times to take it. I personally take mine at night. (I'm still sleeping in when I get up and I never remembered to take it) They say to have protected sex for the first month of you start taking the birth control. It takes some time to get enough in your system to get the full effect.

You may experience spotting (break threw bleeding) the first 3 months if the spotting continues after 3 months contact your doctor.

If you miss a dose don't panic you can double on the dose. HOWEVER, if you MISS MORE THAN 1 DOSE discontinue the pack and start over the next month. (of course use protection during that time) I hope this helps.

You can go to www.webmd.com and do a search on Yasmin or go to www.yasmin.com to read up on the side effects you may experience.

Yazmin is the only pill I can take without horrid side effects. I spotted for the first month of taking it, but after that I had regular periods that were lighter and less painful. I also lost weight, my complexion cleared and I felt great.

They tell you Sunday after your period so you remember that you always start a new packet on a Sunday, but you can begin on the first day of your period if you are so inclined. I would not start before your period just because it can mess up your hormones.

With that said, I was always told to use a backup method for the first month of taking the pill. I am not sure if doctors still say that, but I would personally rather be safe than sorry.

I am not on Yazmin so i can't answer the question about when you should start taking it. Although i would assume its what the booklet says, take it the start day.

However with all pills its always best to use another form of BC like a condom for the first month of taking the pill, just to be on the safe side.

Didn't your doctor tell you when to start it?

When I started on my pill, my doctor told me to start on a Sunday. She said if I get periods to wait until the Sunday after your periods END then start taking them, but since I wasn't getting periods (I just came off of depo, ugh) to start on a Sunday.

you need to start if after you start your period because it is a hormone and will screw up your whole system if you change the starting date it will take a month for this to become effective so you need to use condoms until then
