No.
I had read the books, so what I thought was, "What the hell was up with the last half hour of 'Return of the King?' ''

If you have never read the books, then I highly recommend watching them. If you don't already know the story and are not familiar with how the characters aught to be, you will absolutely adore these movies. They are epic, visually astounding, and absolutely amazing. However, if you have read the books and are intimately familiar with the story. Don't bother. They will only serve to annoy you with Peter Jackson's treatment of all the secondary characters (and some of the primary ones). There are parts that you would feel should have been in the movies that were completely glossed over and parts that have no business being in the movies that are given the spotlight. So, I guess it really depends on how familiar you are with Tolkien's masterpiece already

No, because I read the books! Several times. I was very nervous about seeing the films as I loved the books and generally I'm disappointed by films of books, but in this case I was delighted. All of the characters were just as I'd imagined them, or better. The special effects were totally believable and the hours just flew by.

No, in fact after reading the books and comparing the movies I come to realize I didn't like certain changes.
