For the first time in my life, I'm losing weight and getting into good shape and flexibility. I used to be in soccer, jazz, tap and ballet until I was about eight, until we ran out of money and I couldn't afford to be in extracurriculars any more. Afterwards, I gained a lot of weight, and so I didn't participate in sports/dance at school.
Now it's too late to try out for anything for my senior year, but I'm looking forward to college, and I really want to start training for something new. I really love performing (acting, singing) and I have a background in band, choir and theatre, so anything that would have me performing in front of large crowds interests me. I also loved gymnastics and ballet, but I've been told it's too late to start gymnastics or ballet again to perform on a college team/troup, so anything related would be good.
I'm also still pretty good at soccer, so it's an option, as is any sport that focuses on legs - I have very strong, toned legs.

Any ideas?

When you get to college, you'll likely find a whole set of dance classes you never even dreamed of. I took West African Dance all through college and it got me in amazing shape. It was an unforgettable experience, all the drums and dancing the tribal dances. There was a whole range of dance I'd never heard of there: Javanese, Classical Indian, etc etc

So wait and see what your college offers and try something new. You'll likely have a great, unexpected experience.

If you train hard at ballet and get a good teacher who focuses on core technique, I see no reason you wouldn't be able to perform. Depending on where you were up to (I'm guessing the usual grade 2/3 RAD) you should be able to get up to pointe if you begin again on grade 4. You say you have strong legs, so it should be easy for you to catch up.

Have you considered Ballroom and Latin? It will help you stay in shape and get into even better shape, give you an opportunity to perform/compete and it may come handy at social occasions. Unlike with many other dance forms, you don't have to start as a child in order to be good.

Try rowing. It is a growing sport on college campuses. If you train hard you might make the dance team at your college

What about something like drill team or high kick? Or rhythmic gymnastics is really really cool if it's offered. If it's offered in your area, circus arts is amazing.

i am pretty sure that you use your legs in track events. even if you do not feel like running if you did ballet i am sure you could try long or high jump. Hurdles would be the most "Leggy" event
