My daughter messed about with the calibration on her ds and now it is well out and despite many further attempts to reset the thing through the setting on the thing it wont work please there must be some 1 who can help, i have tried taking out the batteries and pressing all the buttons at once but neither work.

turn on the DS with no games in it
at the bottom-middle of the screen, when it starts up, you will see a button that kinda looks like a DS
tap that - it's the settings
four boxes will show up at the bottom, the left one is sorta pink/violet, but the one you want is yellowish and all the way to the right, looks like a box with crosshairs in it - tap that
you then need to touch the red box in the upper left. it will move to the lower right, tap it again. it moves to the center, tap it again. you can then test the calibration on four red boxes in the corners, and confirm via the "confirm" button at the bottom

take it to the shop where you got it from or phone the manufacture
