Anywhere in the Caribbean will be truly relaxing. Two of my personal favorites are Antigua (365 beaches, one for each day of the year), and Grenada. The water there is turquoise, the beaches are picture-postcard perfect, and the pace of life is very relaxed.

Italy, it is said that 75% or more of the worlds art comes from there, after visiting, I can believe it. Venice and the canals were extraordinary. That was for culture, for adventure, I would have to say La Fortuna, San Carlos in Costa Rica, white river rafting down a 4-5 river, AMAZING! For beach a sleepy little community called La Tortuga. It was awesome.

Italy -- Rome, Venice, Florence... beautiful cities
also Prague in Czech.. (though it's not tropical)
and Stockholm is fantastic, too.
I've been to all of these places: I recommend them as vacation spots!
