Seeing as you posted in the uk section i'll assume you are located there, which makes most of the replies above redundant.

1) No, you can only carry a passenger after you have passed your full test. This can be done at 17.

2) Don't be scared to go for long rides, though you can't go on motorways. 50cc's are allowed on the motorway but as above, you must have passed your full test first. As long as you look after it a 50cc is as reliable and will go as far as any other bike.

3) Not much...legally. To be legal it needs to be a moped of 50cc or less. By defination a moped is a bike/scooter that will not do more than 30mph. You can derestrict 2 stroke bikes to do about 50mph which is slightly naughty but everyone does it anyway. 4 stroke ones can't be derestricted.

4)They are all about as fast as each other. If you want speed ,relatively speaking, you need to go for a 2 stroke. Don't fall for all the bullshit, none of them do much more than 50mph maximum (though the speedo may say different).

1. No, and unless you and the would-be rider are light, I would not suggest you carrying one.
2. You can go as far away from home as you desire, providing you like traveling at about 45 mph and can find a gas station for it. It might go faster, but I wouldn't want to try it for max speed for over 15 minutes or so.
3. You can do lots of mods to a 50 cc bike and still keep it legal. However, having been there and done that, I would suggest you save your money for a bigger bike. Find one that will cruise at 65 mph easily.
For the record, my modified 50 cc bike ended up going from 47 to 54 mph top speed and it was a pain to drive away from stop lights.
4. if I am not mistaken, the fastest 50 cc Gran Prix bike was either an Aprilia, Derbi, Moto Morini, Gilera or Kriedler, all of which were very fast indeed on the track. On the street, the fastest bike I recall was the little Benelli which could do almost 60 mph. I do remember a Tohatsu that was fast also.

However the Kriedler in the late 80's produced in excess of 20 hp and weighed less than 100 lbs. They reportedly could do well over 100 mph. I understand someone is remaking them. They are great fun to watch race on an open track.

1. IN the uk, unless you've passed your test you cannot carry a pillion passenger on your moped(50CC). If you've passed your test and it has back food rests you can.
2. Depending on the size of the tank and how much fuel it holds about 100 miles.
3. Not a lot. because engines in uk are restricted for learner motorcyclists and what's the point at 17 you could be riding a 125cc with learner plates(uk)
4. Most will only reach 30mph but I had a Fantic Motor 50cc that used to hit 65mph with the wind behind me, but that was before restricted engines 20 years ago.

1) No

2) As far as you like.
Before I bought the Reflex, I rode a Honda Elite SA50, and I never had a problem going on long rides. I went to Lansing from Detroit(all back roads) just to see if it would handle such a ride. Return ride was back down Grandriver road.

3) I have done no modifications on my Elite. All that was done was remove the restrictions. However there are companies that sell performance parts for 50cc bikes such as VT Cycles.

4) Sorry got no clue. I know Burt Monro had the fastest Indian.

Hi,

1. At 16 you are not allowed to carry pillion passengers on your bike however as far as i know you can at 17 +.

2. I don't fully understand the question, but if you mean how far can you travel they are quite versatile and can go as far as your petrol takes you! And wiith as much as 100mpg on some bikes that is pretty damn far, however motorways are completely disallowed for all 50cc bike no matter what your age is.

3. As far as i know, even de-restriction is illegal for 16 year olds as it is then not classed as a moped and means your insurance is void. Personally i don't agree with this but unfortunately we cant argue with the law. So, as far as mods go if u want to have an easy time with the law i'd keep them on a low.

4. In my opinion the fastest 50cc is an RS50! I had one for a while and boy do they kick a scooters ***!!, it takes a while to get used to the gears but after a few rides there easy! But obviously it all depends on the riders weight and the restrictions placed on the bike by the manufacturers. If you want to tune up your 50 to get upto 60-70 consider getting a 70cc big-bore kit, performance pipe, rollers, carb, CDI, and other mods, but like i said this may make your insurance void!

Well, I really don't know much about bikes, but here's my best shot.
1. I wouldn't think a 50cc would be able to carry more than one person.
2. Quite a ways. I bet they get pretty great gas mileage, although on the flipside they probably have tiny tanks.
3. Probably depends on the state you live in. In my state, you basically just need a headlight, taillights, turn signals, brake lights, mirrors, and a horn. Other than that, you're good to go. I think. I don't actually own a motorcycle or a driver's license, so I'm not sure. But I'm studying for my learner's permit, and I think I read that somewhere.
4. I have absolutely no idea.

1. Probably not, call DMV for correct ans.
2. MPGx gas capacity of tank. YOU do the math.
3. Once again, call DMV and bike dealer.
4. Race bike or street bike? Does anyone race 50cc bikes? Check for yourself.

1. No
2. As far as you like as long you've passed your CBT (which I think you need to be 17 for) and you stay off motorways.
3. Ain't got the faintest
4. Don't know as I'll never ride anything under a 750 again.

1) no. most 50cc bikes are unable to hold more than one person
2) most 50 cc bikes are illegal to ride on the street , so "from" home would mean you have to define which bike you are interested in and the state laws concerning bikes that low in horse power
3) since most 50cc bikes are not legal for street use....
4) some pocket 50 cc bikes have reported to hit 60 mph.
