"Rob L" is right, The best time of the year in LV for low room rates is after the NFR(National Finals Rodeo) up until the Weekend before New Years. This year that's December 9th up to the 28th

These are the sites I use to compare room rates with the hotel web sites
http://www.travelworm.com
http://www.i4vegas.com
http://www.tripres.com

This site has a search engine "travelaxe" that will search a large number of travel sites and give you a comparison chart of all the rates with the best rate highlighted.
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com >you can also access every hotel/casino web site in LV from this site >VEGAS INFO >Hotels & Casinos

Go to the web site of any hotel(s) that you are interested in and sign up for e-mail updates. They will send you promotions when they become available.

The other "generally" slower times of the year in LV are from November 1st until February 1st and then again from Memorial day to Labor day.

To save money, avoid special events, large conventions and weekends. Room rates in LV rise and fall all the time depending on how room sales are going(and expected to go) for any time of the year. The earlier you begin to look and the more often you check the more likely you are to find a great deal.

These hotels are very good about offering great promotions during slower times of the year, especially December.

Venetian
http://www.venetian.com
Every year that I can remember they have offered $99 rates for December.

Luxor
http://www.luxor.com
$49 rates for December are not unusual. They have a special offer for Nov/Dec on their web site now, buy 2 nights get the 3rd free.

Golden Nugget
http://www.goldennugget.com
$49 rates are normal for December

Orleans
http://www.orleanscasino.com
They often have $20-$25 rates advertised for December sometime during the year. I have seen the rate as low as $15, including Fri/Sat(Dec 2003, 10 nights)

Gold Coast
http://www.goldcoastcasino.com
We have this one for 10 nights next December $232 total

You never know when you will find the deals, you just have to be persistent and keep checking. The GC rate we found in January, The $15 Orleans rate we found in May, the $25 rate last December we found in late September.

If you're interested in this summer I do know of a couple very nice promotions.
http://www.travelworm.com >has a very good deal going for the Orleans, buy one night at $48 the second night is free Sun/Thur May 6th - August 30th- If you stay 5 nights Sun/Thur you get 2 free nights which makes the average nightly rate $28.80 - I know there are some weeks in July where this is still available, this promotion has been ongoing for seveal weeks and for obvious reasons is very popular.

Sam's Town
http://www.samstownlv.com
avaiable 5/28 - 9/27 Sun/Thur $26.99 call 1-800-634-6371 and ask for the "Super Summer Special" >This offer is not as widely know, and therefore there are still lots of days available all the way through the promotion period.

The absolute cheapest time to be in Vegas is the week or so before Xmas. This is the slowest time of year in town and its nice to not have the crowds. You can usually get into places like Bellagio and Venetian for well under $200 a night sometimes much less. The only downside is some shows and restaurants are closed during time for vacation but we go every year at this time and has rarely been an issue.

The best time to go to Vegas is December. It's our slow season, it's not as crowded and prices are lower and the weather is in the 60's. Avoid June through Aug. and spring break if you can. It's hotter than Hades and the streets are jam packed! Also if you stay at a hotel/casino right off the strip it will be a lot cheaper. Look for the station casinos or ones on fremont.

I'm going in late August, middle of the week, and prices are extremely reasonable. 100-120$ for a 4 star hotel/casino, 61-81$ for a 3 star hotel/casino (on the strip of course).

Weekends are far more expensive.

The great thing about Vegas is that you can win money all year round. As long as you win enough....who cares about the cost?

We shouldn't choose costly chief based upon bourgeois notions of patriotism or competence. We would desire to all lookup at him in adoration, and pay attention with glistening eyes to him as he speaks his inspirational inventive and prescient of "forward".
