What does that mean, the acceptance letter also stated upon background completion, and that the offer is of "at will employment" . The question is "Are the employer going to conduct background and other pre-employment verifications after I start, or have the employer already previously conducted background and other verifications prior to me being hired. I like to know because I have some issues with background and I told the Human Resources representative when she called and asked if I could come in for an interview, I was not aware I would be hired on the spot. I'd like to know should I look forward to the position or are the employer going to come back and state that they conducted verfications and I don't fit the criteria. Please help!

If they offered you the job you have it... most companies conduct their screening before offering you a job... that being said if something comes up "willful employment" means that they can terminate you at anytime... it seems that you have been up front about your background and the company has offered you this position knowing that there are some issues with your background... take the job, the worst that can happen is that they terminate you after they get the results of the background check, the best that can happen is that you will keep the job (you will NOT get the job if you back out now)

It means that they may revoke the offer if the "background and other pre-employment" checks are completed, or whatever the letter spells out.
"At-will" means that you have no employment contract; that your letter does not create any obligation on their part to offer you a job or to keep you on (and you have no obligation to continue working--you can give notice and leave anytime and they can give notice and fire you any time for any non-discriminatory reason).

It literally means that your are accepted for employment only if you meet certain conditions. Find out what those conditions are. Usually, it includes a back ground check and a credit check. At will employment just means that you have a right to quit and that if you do quit, tough luck.

It sounds like they're covering all their bases until you pass the background checks.

If you haven't been totally honest about your background you should be because the checks will probably turn up everything.

Maybe I'm crazy, but you could always be forth-coming, instead of trying to hide your past and hope they don't find you out.
