i was driving on the 110 frewway north on friday night of may 11 when a taxi driver merged into my lane while i was there!!!! he hit me into another lane which almost hit another car but luckly that aother car was able to get out of the way. after the accident happen the taxi driver drove very quickly away from the scene. we couldnt get the plate number. i tried to go after him but he damaged my tire. we tried calling the city cab since it was what me and my boyfriend saw on the cab but they hung up the first time the second time they denied anyone of their drivers where in that area but i should know since i was hit by one. then they said that they will call back when they find the driver but they never called back. we call again the next day but once again they hung up the first time. the second time they said the same thing. is there anyway i can sue or is there anyone else who didnt got justice from a hit and run by a taxi? can we get together and sue? i dont know what to do.

the police said there was nothing i can do since there was no plate number to report and taxi companies always cover themselves and hide the damages and everything. the insurance is not going to do anything but raise the payments so i dont know why im even bothering paying them in the first place.

The police are right in that they can not do anything , but that does not mean you can not sue. Contact a lawyer who specializes in accidents and tell them your situation. But act fast it amazing how records and people can disappear when a company is warned they might be sued.

A police report wont help you much. Possibly a witness called 911 and a report will link your report to the witness.

"witnesses? the police would have collected a list of witnesses for you."
No, police are not going to hunt everyone in the state down and ask them if they were there and saw something. Sadly, your fellow motorists don't give a damn about you. I'd be surprised if anyone called it in.

You should have headed down to the taxi company in person. They can't hang up on you that way - if they threaten to call the police for trespassing - you can file your hit and run report at the same time. And while there, complaining, kept an eye out for the car - asked other drivers (if they're like my co-workers - we all hate each other anyway). If ID'd, you could have called police. Try to find out who fixes their cars - go to repair shops.

Always take pictures of your car after the collision. Do it now if it's not too late.

Finally, you can sue anyone for any reason. No guarantee you can win. But the more evidence you have (your phone records, getting thrown out of their office, evidence of their non-cooperation ect.) the stronger your case.

You need to go to the police station and file a police report against the cab company. Tell them what happened. They will investigate and find out who the driver was (hopefully). Yes you can sue the company at small claims court and both of you need to be there in person because the passenger is your witness. If you have any other witnesses they need to come into court with you too.

Yes you can sue, but it is probably best left to your insurance company to do so. File a claim with your insurance company. Also, file a police report IMMEDIATELY. If the cops didn't come to the accident and you had damage to your car of more than $500, you MUST file an accident report yourself. You have 7 days from the accident to do so. I suggest you go do it now, even though it has been 8 days. Your insurance company will handle the suit.

The absolute first thing you should have done was contacted the local authorities or police and filed a report. Since it doesn't sound like you did that, you might try calling them now to see what, if anything, they might do. At the very least, they may give you some options.

Sue away! Doesn't mean you will win. You can take them to small claims (without a lawyer) or call a lawyer and let him make the decision about your questions. I would do the first but I think you should do the second.

You should make a proper police report about the accident and with it you could make a personal claim.

did you make a police report? without that, you acn't do much because its a case of "he said' she said"

witnesses? the police would have collected a list of witnesses for you.
