That's the thieving government for you with their stealth taxes which they say don't exist. Think of the knock on effect of all goods and produce which get transported. That's why everything is so expensive here.

A $3.50/gallon average is high for Americans.
This morning, I paid $3.099 for 87 octane and felt actual pain!! (Indiana)
I spend about $500 per month for gasoline due to my school commute.

What you have that the USA doesn't is a mass transportation system, and therefore higher fuel prices. Here in the States everybody owns at least one probably two vehicles, more in many cases, and drive everywhere they go because there is no mass transportation system set up nation wide....I live in New Mexico and it's $3.30 a gal. and rising....

Are you serious!!! I didn't know that, but here in the US we're so use to low gas prices. If it ever reached $8.00 here things would be extremely crazy. It is close to $3.00 where I live, and I thought that was alot.

Our prices have always been lower and so we got spoiled and now, time to pay the piper! It is nowhere near what prices were in Germany when I was there, but people here don't conserve gas and drive smaller cars.
I would never dream of owning my Jeep overseas where the gas is so expensive.. I'd drive a motorbike probably or something small and dinky..
My friends say "why do people drive such small cars in Europe?" and I say "because they pay thru the nose for gas!"

Thanks for that reminder. We in the US are definitely spoiled when it comes to gasoline prices. This will get some thumbs down, but I think higher gas prices here would be a good thing, since it would force ppl to conserve more and would be better for the environment.
