For 80s rock songs I would go with some Oingo Boingo tunes like Just Another Day, Nasty Habits, The Winning Side, they've got a lot of great songs.
Also, for the late 80s the Pixies records Come On Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa should just make the cut. Surfer Rosa might be 1990, not sure.
