Do you recommend x^2 - 40 9 = y ? ----------- 5 if so i think of you are trying this: 5y = x^2 - 40 9 5y + 40 9 = x^2 ?5y + 40 9 = x So the respond is x = ?5y + 40 9 (the whole of 5y + 40 9 is being sq. rooted)

y = (m + x) / (x - 2)
y (x- 2) = (m + x)
xy - 2y = m + x
xy - x = m + 2y
x ( y- 1) = m + 2y
x = (m + 2y) / (y-1)

y=(m + x)/(x - 2)
(x - 2)y=(m + x)
xy - 2y=m + x
xy - x=m + 2y
x ( y - 1 )=m + 2y
x=( m + 2y )/( y - 1)

y= (m + x)/(x - 2)

Multiply both sides by (x -2)
(x - 2)y= (m + x)

Expand LHS
xy - 2y= m + x

Collect terms
xy - x = m + 2y

Factorise LHS
x ( y - 1 ) = m + 2y

Divide both sides by (y - 1)

So

x = ( m + 2y )/( y - 1 )

(x - 2).y = m + x
xy - 2y = m + x
xy - x = m + 2y
x.(y - 1) = m + 2y
x = (m + 2y) / (y - 1)

y(x - 2) = m + x
xy - 2y - x = m
xy - x = m + 2y
x(y - 1) = m + 2y
x = (m + 2y) / (y - 1).

2007-05-14 06:27:32 · answer #7 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

y = (m + x)/(x - 2)
m + x = y(x - 2)
x = y(x - 2) - m

OR

y= (m + x)/(x - 2)
1/(x - 2) = y/(m + x)
x - 2 = (m + x)/y
x = [(m + x)/y] + 2
