Are you aware that welfare is not available for able-bodied males?

Many people seem to think that a person can just stop working and go on welfare. Not true. Not in this country. Food stamps is about all you can get and you can't live on food stamps.
The only long term substantial money you can get is Social Security Disability, and you must be truly disabled and unable ot work to qualify for that.

I lost my job way back when. I was getting unemployment but no insurance. I broke my shoulder in three places....that costs money. I went to the w/e it is clinic to get medical help. The lady at the desk started laughing at me because I was a single white male. I still have those bills coming out of my pocket because I could not get covered.

Yep, I'm aware of that... I have a White trash male cousin who is on welfare and he's 35 years old... He has 7 kids by 2 different women and hasn't worked a tax paying job a day in his life.... It's not fair, he says he has anxiety attacks... So they allow him welfare and disability!!

On the other hand, my mom worked her entire life.. stayed with the same company for 25 years... Now she is retired and has major medical problems... She has P.O.D., Diabetes, on oxigeyn.... But because she's not at a certain age she has been denied her s.s. benefits and disablility 2 times now!! They won't give it to her, but they will to a guy who is capable of working..... Somethings not right in the system.

You can qualify for unemployment if you are laid off from work and have a work history. If you are an able bodied young man and want to work, then you can get a job. The unemployment rate is at an extremely low number right now. Go get a job.

Welfare is for woman and kids. Able bodied men,if they lose their job, can commit to a life of crime. That's the only social security a poor man gets.

The welfare system needs major overhaul (along with a lot of other government programs).

Unfortunately nearly 1/2 trillion has been wasted on Dubya's little war in iraq.

Yet people whine about welfare loafers - at a tiny little fraction of the cost.

To whine and moan and wail about "welfare" is what they have been trained like seals to do.

Never mind that the actual monies going out to "welfare" is a miniscule fragment of the budget, as compared to the hundreds of millions of dollars going out to Corporate Welfare every year!

I'll never understand it 'til the day I die. They won't utter a word about our tax dollars GIVEN to Big Business, but will become positively apoplectic over pennies going to help to feed children, or to keep a single mother off the street.

Why don't people just suck it up and find a job, even disabled people in wheelchairs can work. I have seen it, desk jobs. people get too carried away with what is "disabled".

Thank the Democrats for making these people believe that relying on the government will make their lives better.
