About 2 months ago my son ( who is 6) fell through his bunk bed and hit his face up against the post of the bed. He doesnt complain much about it but it really hasnt healed. My question is if he had chipped his bone or something ..does it heal on its on. My son is very tough and has been through alot in the past couple years with injuries and there is some trauma there. I dont want to put him through more trauma..if it is something that can heal on its on.....I am a good mother ...but as time has passed and the bruise is still there I am getting more concerned, but like I said it doesnt really bother him!

In my opinion if there is a bruise there two months after the injury then you definitely should go to see a doctor. Not only is it a sign that it hasn't healed properly but also could lead to other problems such as a blood clot. Please get him checked out.

Here is more information on bruises. They say it should take 2-4 weeks to heal.

If he had a significant enough trauma to the bone and tissue, it will bruise for a week or two. If it has been longer than that, I would recommend taking him to see your general practitioner to assess the damage. I would tell him how long the bruising has been present, and ask why it does not show signs of healing. Sometimes people have blood conditions that do not allow a fast healing process. I would just want to rule out any possibilities that could be present and showing itself as a red flag to you. If he has chipped his bone, it takes six weeks for bone to heal and completely knit together if it is a fracture. Tissue around the surrounding bone fracture should heal faster than that though.

Bone against skin bruises a lot. It should be fine. It does take a good few months to heal. But nevertheless, I would have it checked by a nurse or a pediatrician. An x-ray should suffice. Af it doesn't bother him, it probably isn't a break in the bone or he would probably be complaining of pokes in his cheek every time he twitched.

A cheekbone bruiseshould not take two months to heal. My son fell and badly bruised his cheekbone at 18 mos., but it didn't take two months to heal!
Take him to the doc, and get it checked out.

He needs evaluated. It is not normal for the area to continue being symptomatic. I get what you are saying regarding trauma, but an X-ray with his favorite toy/stuffed animal and some good cheer from mom will not be traumatic. It should have healed. Please go have him checked.
