no... due to too much light on the ground there's interference which prevents you from seeing the stars.

No. The day light was still a little bit on, the sky was probably cloudy and or the bright lights of the city and the dust in the atmosphere must be scattering a lot of the light thus reducing the visibility of many stars. No, the world is not coming to end. Don't worry.

Hey 007. I visited friend in rural Va., and went outside at night and I started crying. There were so many stars, I couldn't make out the constellations !! Living in this light pollution sucks. When Haley's Comet was here, the parks dept. turned off those huge quartz lights at night for 3 months. It was still too light.! Can't see meteor showers,(usually cloudy). I wonder if a UFO would show. !!

A thin cloud layer is sufficient to reduce the visibility of stars. The world will not be ending for some time yet.

Sounds like it was cloudy, you were in a big bright city or it was still daylight. Sunset isn't until 830 where I am right now.
Just to ease your mind...the stars are still there. And as far as I can tell, the world is not ending.
