Not me, but I do have some experience in the area of child development - like a degree in Child Development and I work in Children's Developmental Disabilities doing assessments. Some children don't ever crawl; they just start pulling themselves up on things and walk. Some kids will do what's called hitching; it's when they scoot along on their bottoms. Some kids do both crawling and hitching. There are other things I would need to know to make a clear judgment, like any other developmental milestones he/she is not reaching. It may be worth while to talk with your pediatrician about your concern if there are other things as well to be worried about.

I'm an in-home daycare provider and have seen MANY babies that don't crawl until around 10 months and a few that skip crawling all together and just start walking around a year old. My children both crawled, my son started at 6 months and my daughter at 5 1/2 months. My daughter is now 8 1/2 months old and is almost walking, she walks holding onto things but not alone yet. It's pretty common for kids to crawl anytime between 6 and 10 months but they are all so different.

Not all babies do traditional hands and knees crawling. My youngest daughter did not crawl like this until she was a year old and didn't walk until she was 14 months. Before she crawled, she scooted around the house on her bottom to get where she wanted to go. I have provided child care in my home for 20 years. I have had several unusual modes of mobility that have developed. Rolling over and over has been the favorite for some little ones. I had a couple who did "commando" crawling by pulling themselves along on their tummies with their elbows. I currently have a little one in my care who turned 1 on March 3. He began crawling right after he turned 1 but he has 1 leg bent at the knee and the other straight and he pushes with his foot. He does not walk yet, but he can pull himself up to stand at the couch or a chair and is just beginning to maneuver himself to walk a little while holding onto something. All babies develop at their own rate. If a baby is going to crawl, typically sometime between 7-10 months that skill will begin to develop.

My daughter was a few days short of 9 months, when she finally started crawling. A lot of people forget that the average age for crawling for 9 months. So your baby is just fine!

Don't worry. every child is different, so you shouldn't judge your baby yet. My son didn't know how to crawl until he was 9 months. It was like today he didn't know how, and the next day, he crawled like he has been doing it for months!! It's kind of weird, but they will learn to by themselves.

Yes. My daughter is 91/2 months crawling backwards and rolling around not crawling forward though. But she is starting to walk. Some don't even crawl and that's normal too.

Every child works at their own pace. Some babies crawl between 6 - 10 months, whild some walk between 9 - 15 months. It doens't mean that your child is slow or anything like that. To each their own. Their muscles, etc. Hang in there it will happen.

My first son was a year old before he crawled and it took him another 6 to 8 months before he even began to try to walk. Your baby is probably fine, because each one develops and does different things at different times. I wouldn't worry.

I just babysat for an 8 month old! Cute as a kitten! she could barely crawl. Some babies develop at a later rate than others. If you are concerned, discuss your concern with the baby's pediatrician.
