They were right up there with the conservative concerns when President George H Bush and George W Bush gave China most favored trading status.
ALL THREE PRESIDENTS, BUSH SR, CLINTON AND BUSH JR, GRANTED COMMUNIST CHINA MOST FAVORED TRADING STATUS.
The logic behind giving communist China most favored trading status, is to induce capitalism.

Tasmania's vegetable growers have been told new opportunities will open up for Australian agriculture with the signing of a free trade agreement with China.
There are concerns local vegetable processors Simplot and McCain Foods will pull out of Tasmania and move their business to China under the agreement, and there will be an increase of cheaper vegetable imports into the state.
However, Liberal Senator Richard Colbeck says there is nothing to substantiate these concerns.
"We are certainly very mindful of the fact that there is concern amongst the vegetable community," he said.
"Obviously we'll talk to the growers and their representatives as part of the free trade negotiations, as we did with the free trade negotiations with the United States, and we'll be looking to ensure that there's more in it for them than they have at the moment."
--
"Traditionally, the most troublesome thing about free trade—apart from the difficulty of persuading people that it works—is the unequal distribution of its benefits. The whole country is better off, but there are winners and losers. Generally, the losers are lower-income workers, whose jobs are the easiest to duplicate in less-developed countries. It seems misguided to me to avoid a policy that makes the whole nation richer because it makes some individuals poorer." (4th link)

It would take away jobs from union members in the United States making cheap stuff - not many of those types of jobs left in the US but not due to China - it's due to our labor force being so high priced that only Military-Industrial Complex companies can make a profit on the high priced goods produced, primarily because they have cost plus contracts with the military.

Who said there weren't concerns? Just because there wasn't this forum to write them in? By the way, the China agreement was a good one as set up on paper. Sorry it was totally exploited by the Republican congress.

is this a query or fact? NAFTA became right into a bi-partisan bill, undergone a liberal congress and liberal President (particular, President Bush Sr. became into liberal). the belief of NAFTA became into sturdy in theory, yet regrettably the certainty has diminished the generating base and agriculture interior the U.S. Conservatives agree, repeal NAFTA. the reason of it became into of course to shrink the flexibility of unions interior the U.S., besides the shown fact that by way of doing that, they compelled us to alter right into a spending u . s ., and we've been spiraling added into debt ever considering that. NAFTA is in all probability the biggest and maximum unfavourable mistake this u . s . has ever made.

...and they complain about all the Chinese stuff Wal-Mart sells. If you recall, it wasn't until after Bubba gave China MFN (which I believe is what you are referring to) that the trickle of Chinese goods into this country became a flood.
BTW, feelingmutual, it was BUBBA, not either Bush, who gave China MFN.
