Sure, why not? I did the last boycott a few years ago. Not many people did so then. I don't think too many people will do it tomorrow either. It is one of those things that will need to take place for more than a day to make a difference. I drive a lot for my job so I get gas at least every 3 or 4 days.

The boycott is stupid, there is no differance if I fill up today tomorrow, or when whenever, because eventually I need gas to go to work, pick up kids, ETC. it's called life, left wing nuts. Supply and demand, the Oil companies are gonna get our money eventually, so it makes no differance which day you fill. All you people saying I will fill up today or the 16th what's the differance? Most people don't need gas everyday, most fill up once a week or twice depends on your job and what's going on. If you Nuts want to make a differance than set the example, ride your bike to work, use the T-Train if you have one in your city, Put wind farms on the coast of Cape Cod where I live, to increase energy on our area and less on oil and gas but THE GREAT HYPROCITES LIKE TED KENNEDY, JOHN KERRY AND Liberal buddies don't want that, Let's stop people like Al Gore flying on private Jets. I mean we can do alot so much more and a one day gas out is stupid. The Oil companies will get you eventually it's called supply and demand.

I spend a large portion of my time researching
alternative energy and America's addiction to oil to
fuel our personal transportation.

Not purchasing gasoline on May 15th will have
absolutely no effect on the price of fuel at the pump.
All this plan does is change the day on which you
will purchase fuel, but does nothing to eliminate the
need for fuel on that day. So the end result is that
the oil companies will get the exact same weekly sales
as they would normaly have. They don't care whether
you buy gas on Tuesday or Thursday.

Also, oil companies sell gasoline on one of the
smallest profit margins in retail goods, normally
around 5%. That means on a $3 gallon of gasoline the
oil companies make $0.15 profit. Even if every single
penny of profit was driven out of the pump cost of
gasoline, the price at the pump would drop from $3.00
to $2.85. Not a significant drop.

The simple truth is that we are rapidly approaching
peak oil, the time when the world's ability to produce
oil steadily declines as old wells decline and not
enough new wells are found to take their place.
Several reports have Saudi Arabia peaking already.
Combine the peak in the world's ability to produce oil
with increased demand from not only the U.S.'s
gluttonous use but from developing nations such as
China and India, and in a short period of time we will
be wishing for $3.00 a gallon gasoline.

For some reason, Americans seem to think that they
have a right to cheap gasoline and personal
automobiles. But the fact is that our dependence on
foreign oil comes at a very high cost - our national
security, our environemt, and a very large portion of
our economy that gets funneled to countries that are
actively involved in harming America. And producing
enough oil on our own shores to feed our habit is an
impossibility.

We need a complete paradigm shift from fossil fuels
toward electrically powered vehicles that are fueled
with renewable energy produced right here, we need to
modify our lifestyles so that we have less need to
travel in inefficient personal vehicles that enslave
us to foreign nations and large corporations, and we
need to develop regional public transportation and
light rail. If we do not do these things, America has
peaked as a nation and our decline will trace the
falling production line of world oil production.

It's a useless boycott because whatever you didn't purchase on the 15th, you will have to buy on the 16th anyway. The only real way to boycott gas is to stop driving cars or at least not drive as much as you do now.

Not intentionally. We don't need gas, so we won't buy it. I mean, come on! A one-day boycott of gas is meaningless. The only people you are hurting are the independent gas station owners who have to buy their gas from "Big Oil." Their profit margin is so narrow, that any drop in sales will hurt them.

No.

More effective would be to use no gas on the 15th. If you are going to use the same amount of gas, just buy it a day later, you aren't affecting the oil companies.

Cut back your usage and really send a message.

Yea, cause I have a full tank of gas already "rolls eyes." This plan is stupid because you are not using less fuel, just pushing time of consumption to a different day.

I dont use gas at all but those of you who are, are supporting the terrorist and are funding the distruction of our precious country I use a bicycle to get around and I also walk. I live near every thing and close to down town so i dont have to use a vehicle and I hate public transportation except for the rail

The people that own these companies are BILLIONAIRES. You could boycott them for a year and they will still be rich. You are dealing with a huge corporation.. they can't be knocked off by a one day boycott.

If my tank needed gas tomorrow, I would fill it tomorrow (May 15th).

This is stupid. Eventually, you WILL need to put gas in your gas tank. What are you going to do? Leave the car on the side of the road forever? They will get your money eventually, and you're not hurting anyone except the gas station owner who has nothing to do with big oil except the name on his pumps.
