Parents are too busy with their careers to have time for their children and make up for it by giving them things they don't really need like cell phones, ipods, blackberries, etc. In most cases it takes 2 people to make a living these days and by the time the day is over the parents are just to tired to spend time with their kids and really listen to them. Kids still need someone to listen so they turn to their friends who are facing the same thing - parents too busy to listen. And, once this vicious cycle is started, it is hard to break. Before long we have an entire generation of young adults who think they are entitled to anything and everything they want and care about no one but themselves!
