It depends on how hard your bullpen has been working recently. If you've had a bunch of games recently that you've needed to pull your starter early, you may leave him in and hope that he can get you 4-6 innings of work to allow your bullpen to rest. Even if you have to let him blow up his era. I'd say that if you need to try to leave him in, I wouldn't take him out until about 6 runs cross. If he only gives up 4, you leave him in and hope he can perform well the rest of the game and give you some quality innings.

It depends on the pitcher.

If I've got a veteran guy in there who's getting knocked around, but who feels okay, I'd probably let him go 6-7 runs before making a move. I'd hope that he could settle down over the next few innings, and I wouldn't worry about his confidence given his experience.

If I've got a kid in there, though, or someone with a fragile psyche, I'm probably going to stop it earlier before the guy is damaged for an extended period. There are plenty of veteran guys who can forget immediately about a bad outing, but some, especially young guys, can be hurt beyond that single outing.

I'd pull him after 5 runs, definitely. It also depends on how many are earned, how many outs there are, how they score, etc. If I think he's pitching well and just getting shelled, I'd let him keep going. Also, if you are down by a lot right away, you may consider saving your bullpen and giving him another few innings.

that depends, if he is throwing pitches down the middle and the batters are teeing off. he is out at 3 runs.

if the pitcher is hitting inside and outside corners and the hitters are just good and still hitting the ball, he would be pulled at 4 runs.

depending on outs and the baserunners positons, 4. if there is a chance he'll get out of the inning without any more damage, you leave him in to see if he can get out of it. if not, you pull him
