Mars does have an atmosphere. It is much thinner than Earth's atmosphere, but it is sufficent to blow dust around, and even enough to fill the parachutes of the Mars landers which delivered the mars rovers.

Yes, that is a mistake. Mars doesn't have much of an atmosphere and that too earth like atmosphere. But it has a thin atmosphere and the winds are strong.

Daughter is correct. Mars does have an atmosphere -- just not very much. But it is enough to blow dust around, and does.

Mars most definitely can have wind storms.

In fact, Mariner 9 arrived at Mars in the middle of a massive windstorm. Not as strong as wind on Earth, but still...wind. :)

Your daughter is right.

"Mars has winds that can attain high speeds but the atmosphere is so thin that even when the wind is blowing at its fiercest it would not blow you over."

Mars has a very thin atmosphere... not "no" atmosphere.

It's enough to make dust storms, yes.
