If I was 49ers owner York writing a letter...

A new stadium for the 49ers will allow the city to re-develop a section of the city that needs infrastructure improvement. The Hunters Point area needs better roads and more jobs, and I feel a new stadium will allow the city to develop a mixed use environment where housing, shopping and recreation can coexist. Just witness the transformation of the China Basin area where AT&T Park is located at. The area has been transformed from a decaying neighborhood to a vibrant area where new condos have been built, UCSF has built a new medical campus, and numerous business and shops have been established.

The new stadium will generate more tax revenue for the city as luxury boxes and ticket prices will go up. The new revenue increase will allow the 49ers to commit more money to improving the team and hopefully winning the Super Bowl.

-----------

By the way, I think the whole process is ridiculous. First, the 49ers want to pay as little money to build a new stadium, so they are using Santa Clara and San Francisco to bid against each other. It's a smart strategy and the two cities are kind of playing along. Second, how much benefit can a city gain from a new football stadium?

A football stadium gets used infrequently. 10 home games (8 regular season + 2 pre-season. Maybe you can have a few college football games. Only a handful of concerts can be held in a football stadium. A football stadium is more expensive than a baseball stadium and is used much less... Not much benefit a city can gain from what I see.

The 49er's have decided to move to San Jose. As a result, it would be stupid for the taxpayers of San Francisco to also build a new stadium for the 49er's at this point.

It was a good idea, however, for San Francisco to make an application for the Olympics with part of the bait being a new stadium for the 49er's. In order to get the Olympics today, it would be necessary to build a new stadium, as few stadiums retain the option of holding a full size track inside of them - its where Chicago screwed up in not building the Bears a new stadium from scratch and planning to renovate Soldier Field for the Olympics. San Francisco then could have had the opportunity to redevelop the area where Candlestick Park is located, and also provide redevelopment options for the new stadium. Just because the stadium is used just a few times a year does not mean that it will not be beneficial. Surround it with parking options so that nearby commercial office and retail options have plenty of parking Monday thru Friday. It seems to be working well in many communities - Atlanta being a prime example, with Turner Field and the Georgia Dome built for the Olympics and now the Braves and Falcons.

Use the stadium as a tool for redevelopment, and it will pay for itself many times over. But once the 49er's decided to move, it was over. Get over it.

Essay form huh......

San Fancisco needs to keep a vidal part of the city's sporting tradition around for as long as possible. This can only be done by building the 49ers a new Stadium.

San Francisco should build a new stadium for the 49ers so they don't have to start wearing scuba gear during the games.

Another popular reason is the money that the team brings into the city.

In conclusion, they just should...ok?

The San Francisco 49ers fans and community deserve a new stadium. I am here today, to tell you why.

The current facility is just plane garbage, it is near if not the worst facility in the NFL.

A new stadium brings fans to the game, it attracts tourists (yes believe it or not) and will keep the 49ers in San Francisco for an extra 20 years guaranteed.

Bottom line is they need a new stadium and the government should cough up the money. All good cities have good stadiums and sports teams.

Sports is what rules the world and is what many people live and breathe.

They shouldnt.

The forty niners suck. Forty niner fans are even worse! I think by getting rid of the team it would actually be better for the city. If the Giants werent so selfish they would have built a stadium to accomidate both teams, but the Giants suck too, so I guess that explains that. Plus it wont be long before an earthquake shakes all of SF into the pacific.

i'm not from San Francisco, yet close sufficient. As with development a clean section in any city, it expenses funds, and San Francisco is merely attempting to guard its funds...2d, I dont understand in case you have ever been to Frisco, in spite of the undeniable fact that that is particularly...very packed, there isnt everywhere to construct, except you bypass up. for this reason it like huge apple is uncomplicated for skyscrapers. and that they have got been the SF 49ers simply by fact the beginning up, and we ought to shop it that way. additionally i think of we dont precisely have a triumphing team to place hundreds of thousands into it. Especically with Oakland Raiders on the different area of the bridge.
