1. Find the slope, which is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1). In your case, this would equal 0.
2. Insert slope (slope=m) into this equation: y=mx+b. In your case, this becomes y=b.
3. Take a point and insert the y-value in for y, and the x-value in for x. In your case, 5=b.
4. Solve for b. In your case, b=5.
5. Plug slope and b into y=mx+b. In your case, y=0*x+b or y=5.

Your equation is y=5.

To find the equation of a line passing through two points you need to first find the slope

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

m = (5 - 5) / (1 - 7) = 0/(-6) = 0

Since the slope equals zero it must be a horizontal line passing through the y value always,

so y = 5 is the equation of the line

If this is a straight line, the equation will be simply y = 5, indicating a horizontal straight line passing through the y axis at 5.
If it's an equation for a curve you are looking for, you will need to determine what sort of curve it is, and provide at least 1 more reference point to be able to determine the more complex equation describing the curve.

You first need to find the slope by subrtacting your y's over your x's which gives you 0/6 which is 0.
Then you have to put it in point slope form which is y-y1=m(x-x1) using either point which gives you y-5=0(x-1) and then solve for y which puts it in slope intercept form which gives you y=5

y=mx + b

m=slope
b=the y intercept

The y-intercept is obviously 5, seeings how both vectors have the same number for y.

The slope is 0/4, change in y over change in x.

The line is horizontal, since the change in y is 0.

Therefore, your equation is y=5.
