am i the only one that thinks jesse jackson, al sharpton, and julian bond are fools? why are they even needed? white people don't have a leader to speak for them, nor does asian americans, hispanic americans, native americans, or anyone else. these people are not mlk or fredrick douglas and we are not living in a time of slavery or oppression for black people. my personal opinion is that they hurt a lot more than they help and they just fuel racial divide in america. think about it, if there was nothing to march about, what would al and jesse do all day? they are professional activists, so if they dont find something to complain about they are out of a job.

Perhaps they have the right idea afterall.
Most black people descend from tribes. Tribes always have a leader, so maybe it's a genetic/ cultural thing that is deeply ingrained in the blood.
Sometimes having a leader to speak on your behalf is more productive than having a number of individuals all speaking about the same thing, and at the same time.
You being white and I'm presuming American, have George Bush as YOUR tribal leader......
..... Who's the fool now?

White people "DO" have a leader. His name is President Bush. ( ^ _ ^ )
I think you're way in over your head with this question. I hope you're not thinking about majoring in political science! You sound more like a parrot. Repeating the same rhetoric that you may have heard from mommy and daddy or whoever. Do you really know the "plight" and the history of Asian, Hispanic and Native Americans? Do you know the history of African Americans in this country? I'll do you one even better. Do you even know your own history?! Fox News doesn't count buddy.
You're insulted?! *laughs* Really?! And your question isn't an insult? You majored in Political Science?! Really?! Judging from the way that you talk, I'd say you wasted not only your time, but you wasted your money as well. Either that, or you have very biased and unfounded beliefs and opinions about Blacks. PS or IR degree, you're still wrong period!

Native Americans have always had tribal leaders to this day, as do the communist freaks in North Korea and Cuba. Why do White people always need a leader. And why do they pick a leader who is uneducated and lost. Why are they so racist they they let a Black woman with higher intellect serve under a White man with lower intellect. That's like asking Bill Gates to intern at McDonald's. They stop every thing and turn on the TV because they say they want to watch their "leader of the free world" George Bush on television. Why do White people need Diebolds to help them lie, cheat and force their corrupt leaders on everyone else. Why do White people depend on the Black community for Black votes? Does Julian Bond need White votes to get in the NAACP. Why are White people so dependent on Blacks any way? Your very question and your sexual infatutuation with Black culture shows your neediness and dependence on Blacks. There is no such thing as a 'professional activist' job. Activist is NOT a job, it's what you do WITH you job. Sharpton and Jackson are reverands, every church has a minister. They are just the Black version of The Pope and you are jealous of that. You also cut and past out of magazines and websites and have no real education. Political science is not a degree. That is pathetic. I have never seen one classified ad hiring for political science. That is a welfare degree. You are really proving that you are White.

I didn't even bother reading your whole question, because I could tell from the frist sentence that you are obviously pulling theories about black people out of your as$.
I could care less about Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Julian Bond. They are not the leaders of anything except themselves. They fight for causes as they see fit. They have never done a damn thing for me, and I would never call on them to. So, just because the white media loves to give them attention, does not mean all black people do.
And PS... you do have your own leader... he goes by the name of Bush.

Your not that smart are you? everyone has a leader of some sort! Americans leader is the president, christains leaders are Jesus and God, UK leader is the Queen, women in America also have leaders... everyone has a leader of some sort. Its a natural thing, like the animals in the wild, everyone has a leader. I think more people like you fuel a division in race than people like Sharpton. Besides if you really think things in America are equal for blacks as whites than your living in a make believe world. America has come a long way but it still has a long way to go before blacks are treated equal, and women are treated as equal as men, and not to mention all the other races in America our Asains and Hispanics, so wake up and smell the coffee.

Why did America have so many Presidents if they don't have a leader?
I don't know what you call Prime Ministers in your La-la land but they look pretty much like leaders of their respective countries. Like Japan, Singapore, England and so many other countries.

Not all black people support either of the three. Black people did not appoint them as spokespeople for blacks. They appointed themselves.... You know, just like Bill O'Reilly and Michael Moore, who both seem to think that every white American is either democrat or republican.
