Hey one of the times I'm going to agree with you. YES HE SHOULD. To the first guy, they don't owe him. He may have helped build them up but that doesn't give him the right to leave them where he found them. If he was a coach then yeah they should give him a chance to show it was the team not his ability going down. Problem is age wears down the body strength. He is wearing down and has a big ego. Thinks only he can win the games so he makes DUMB choices and kills the team.

Brett Favre is the Green Bay Packers. Wisconsinites live and breathe Brett Favre, so no he doesnt owe the team anything.
Statistically Favre has started more consecutive games at quarterback than anyone ever. By almost 10 years worth of starts. He is probably going to break Marino's TD record this season. He has more completions than any other quarterback.
You could argue that he is losing his edge, and throwing interceptions, making stupid plays, etc. But fact of the matter is that the Packers have needed him to try and make phenomenal plays to keep them in the game. His offensive line started 3 rookies last year and had problems protecting him. When the O-line was heathy his running backs were hurt forcing him to carry the offense.
I think this season you will see a Brett that is more comfortable and has less pressure to force plays. Packers go 10-6.

He can still play. Let's keep in mind he's the same age as Trent Green and two teams want to trade for him. And Favre is a better QB. The Packers would be in rough shape without Favre right now. So he's still needed in Green Bay.

No, vice versa. The Packers were crap before he got there in the 90's. Has any one player had more of an impact on one franchise than Brett Favre had on the Packers in the 90's?

I can't believe Brett wanted a trade after the draft because they didn't pursue Randy Moss hard enough like New England. Brett Favre IS Green Bay, and he should know better than to do something like that. It's freaking Randy Moss, he's getting older, and the first time Moss thinks the New England quarterback hasn't thrown him the ball enough, or when they struggle against Miami (they usually lose to them once a season), his true colors will show.
Cheers!

I think Favre should be encouraged to retire, because now he is really holding back the development of Aaron Rodgers. You people are wrong when you say that the Packers don't have anyone to take his place. Aaron Rodgers was a top QB in college who hasn't had the chance to prove himself in the pros yet.

Without Favre they are nothing. Since he is still starting they would be worse off without him.
