Can the extensive use of mobile connect cards such Vodafone's provoke health problems since they use electromagnetic waves to communicate just like cell phones, but unlike cell phones the communication length can be very long (several hours).

All wireless electronic devices use electromagnetic waves, also known as radiation. Radio (radiation) is the only means of broadcasting know with today's technology, not including direct line of sight broadcasting - like IR and laser. You've heard of broadcasting watts, right? that's the power your device is radiating and radiation causes skin burns and DNA damage. In the HAM radio license study guide: "now we're talking" it states that you must be careful using high power transmitters because of possible eye damage caused by high power radiation transmission. Your eyes are very sensitive to radiation and you should always locate the antenna away from your head. That's what light is - another form of radiation - can you say skin cancer. Microwave ovens also cook your food using radio waves. The radiation causes water molecules to vibrate at the same radio frequency thus causing heat. So, YES, transmitters cause cancer and other health problems so be careful!
