Integrity, intelligence, and morals. If he was a past office holder in his state or somewhere else, I look for voting records.
I also research the state from which they came from, to see what made news regarding budgets, votes, politics, etc..
Also, I look at who supports their campaigns and where they get their PAC money and major support from. (ie Lobbyists).

Integrity, above average intelligence, a true patriot, a person wSho runs on conviction (that he/she could really help the country and people), one who does not believe that the American people should pay for their experimental positions, pork barrel spending, raising taxes for Socialist programs. One who will lift the morality of the U.S., one who believes 'freedom of speech does not include selling out to the enemy', one who will make it a priority to protect our borders, one who will let parents be parents, teachers teaching the basics, churches or any other organization that is providing true help for the needy and troubled w/o trying to stifle their objective. A person who would not try to federalize everything and restore to the states their rightful rights.
For many years we have had liberals who have tried to play God and advance Satan's evil traps and destroy the good that we have always stood for.
I would like to see a President who, if we go to war, will go in to win instead of lives being lost without any real resolve.
A president who will support our military 100% and make taking care of veterans and making their needs a priority.
There should never be a homeless veteran, a veteran injured in war, physically or mentally should take priority over all the support provided those who gave nothing and expect the government to support them and their families.
Lots more but I'll quit now. Too much for anyone to read.

What do you mean, "besides party affiliation"?? I dont give a damn what party a candidate is affiliated with.
Honesty, intelligence, passion, etc. All the things that the typical politicians who run this country DONT have. And of course, they have to agree with me on at least the most important issues. I dont care if they believe in evolution or not, but theyd better be willing to get us the hell out of Iraq.

Which one seems to be lieing the least and which one tells fewer lies about what i care about. It's hard to pick one based on what they say becasue they all lie to benefit themselves. It will be a great day in history when democracy actually works and they really care what the people want and don't just say they do.
I also think it would be nice to have a president that upholds the seperation on church and state they just don't mix.

Someone who will not dictate policy on what the public feels is right...I want someone who has the guts to do what he feels in his heart, is the right decision. I also think that person should be a man...sorry Hillary.

They need to be a person of conviction, and have steadfast leadership. Thankfully we have one in Office right now.
