I have read where people saw a quick flash of someone in the chair, but I rewatched the show and saw nothing.

Yep. If you can, watch it in slow motion and you will CLEARLY and EASILY see him, for real!
We have Tivo (well, DVR) and right around the :45 minute mark (I believe) is where that scene is.
As soon as "Jacob" throws Ben across the room and then the camera pans to Locke and shows Ben looking 'pleadingly' at Locke, it will fly past the rocking chair - it is right then that you can see him. Now that I know he is there, even if I'm watching in normal speed, I can see him - however, in normal speed, he almost looks like a big hairy ghostly dog.
If you watch it completely paused, cover up the hairline on him - it is very eerie how much the facial structure resembles Locke!

Yep, he was definitely there for a brief moment. It's right after Ben is pushed against the wall. And there is also a flash of an eye, which may or may not be Jacob's eye. You can see the screenshot here: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Jacob

Yea, hes there right after Ben gets thrown against the wall they flash over to him in a split second. Go to youtube or try abc.com and watch it and hit stop. If you had a dvr you could slo mo, but he is there and its creepy!

i sure did. i recorded the episode on dvr and i fast forwarded to that scene and i most definatley saw someone.
