help! my 4 month old is a tummy sleeper (now that she can roll over, she will not sleep on her back) and is getting stuck in the crib at night. when i put her down, she's nicely positioned in the crib, but the past few nights i've had to go in and turn her back around. she's getting stuck...she moves so much that she ends up with her feet and head against the rails. i have one of those breathable mesh bumpers, which helps to keep her feet and arms from getting through the rails, but it's not too soft! i've tried a sleep positioner, but she hates it because she can't put her arms down. i'm thinking of putting her regular bumpers on but am nervous about sids. anyone have any suggestions?

When her feet and head are up against the rails, does that make her wake up and cry? If not, there really is no need to move her when you check on her. If she becomes uncomfortable, she will move herself. SIDS is something that all parents worry about. Bumpers in the crib do not cause SIDS, however. While SIDS is classified as the sudden, unexpected death of a baby under the age of 1, most cases occur between 2-4 months. The current recommendation is to initially lay your baby down on her back to sleep until 1 year old. If she is able to roll or move herself, that is OK. I have been a mom for 27 years to 4 children and a child care provider in my home for 20 years. My oldest children are 27, 25, and 22. When they were infants, most babies slept on their tummies due to the worry about choking on spit up. When our youngest (surprise!) was born, the Back to Sleep Campaign had begun and it took some getting used to putting her down to sleep on her back even though I had been doing it reluctantly for my daycare infants for a couple years. My suggestion is lay your baby down on her back and let her find the position that is comfortable for her.

Use the regular bumpers. You baby is moving now so the Sids is alot less likely. If something gets in her face she can move it away or move herself away. Don't be scared, Just check on her regularly for the first few days of using the regular bumpers. Use them during nap time so you can monitor how she handles the change. I used regular bumpers the whole time with both of my children. I took them out of the crib when they started to pick the up and pull on them.

My son is also 4 months and was doing the same thing... he rolls back to tummy and tummy to back so he's all over the place. I finally had to give in and put up his regular bumpers and it has really helped. I was scared about sids too, but I don't think it will happen. He moves so much I just don't see it happening.. she will be fine.. Good Luck!

I agree, there's nothing you can do. She'll get through this phase in time. Even putting a regular bumper on (which I don't recommend anyway) won't necessarily stop her from crying when she gets stuck. Just be patient, and when she learns to move around a lot more, things will get better.

you're able to do a internet or demonstrate yet you will would desire to purchase enormous so that's going to pass below the matteress over the rails and preserve on the out section previous the bars. you are able to attempt to nail plywood on the grib so he can push by way of yet then makes it stressful for you to work out him. you ought to easily prefer to pass the crib out and use a play pen. then neither the infant or the crib gets ruined He is often waiting for a infant mattress.. by way of he would be waiting to get out and loose. LOL that's a stressful project your darned in case you do and darned in case you dont. leaving him in is a ability harm, which i hopes on no account happens on your candy lil guy. We bought a breathable bumper from Babies R Us. That way, if the baby gets smooshed against it, he doesn't suffocate. Check them out at babiesrus.com

Hi
You need to just get the real bumpers and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Really, that's all you can do!
