IT's teething time for him. My son drools everytime a new set of teeth grows. He also put everything in his mouth, too, such as his blanket, toys, etc. When I tried to feed him, he would bite the spoon. When they are teething their very first teeth, it's gonna be a while before you can see any actual teeth. Just be patient with them because sometimes it's painful to them.

It could definitely be teething. Drooling and putting his fist in his mouth are strong indicaters. There's no perfect way to tell, as the gums feel normal early in the process. Teething may be associated with a low grade fever - even the experts can't agree on this - but not a high fever, say over 100.6 F (38 C). Be careful not to blame every fever at this age on teething. An infection is always a possible cause for irritability.

Colic usually starts earlier that 3 months, and is usually over by 3 - 4 months.

Some babies do start teething a little early. From what you described it sounds as if that may be starting. I didn't think mine was teething at first [when she was doing the exact same things as you mention] but after days of her fussing [to the point she didn't want to eat anymore] I took her to the Dr. & thats what he told me even though he couldn't really see anything in her gums...A week later her bottom gum is quite swollen & you can see the tooth bulging!

This could be the time for teething... but babies go through their fussy spells.

Mine teethed anywhere from 4 to 7 months.

Sounds like he could be teething. My son is also 3 1/2 months and does the same things.

my 3 1/2 month old is doing the same thing. i'm pretty sure she's teething, so when she is really feeling fussy and i give her .4 of infant tylenol. it seems to help!
