I really not know but did want to give an idea.
Honda made a Street/Trail Bike a few years ago. I think it was a 650 single cylinder. Real nice bike that could hold it's own at Freeway Speeds. I looked at them when new on the floor and considered buying one as it was the best of both worlds, which to me was more for the money.
I wish I could remember the Model, but, if you could find one of these used now and in good condition it would make for a nice bike.
Wish I could tell you more.
I found it. XR 650 L. This site "popup city" though. I got a link, maybe it not pop-up much;

This the same site, but, the specs. It say Off-road, but, the ones I looked at were street legal with lights, horn, etc.

You may also want to check out the Yamaha XT225. It's a dual purpose bike that fits what you describe. It lists for around $4200 new. Another Yamaha model is the TW200, which has fatter tires. Just check with your local Yamaha dealer.

I think cycle trader is the best source myself, but eBay motors is okay too. If you don't plan to do any technical trails, but just on road and maybe fire roads, the XR 650 might be worth a look.
