For Copper (II) Chloride here are the reactions:

Dissolution:
CuCl2(s) + 4H2O <--> CuCl2•4H2O(l) (if anhydrous)
CuCl2•2 H2O(s) + 2H2O <--> CuCl2•4H2O(l) (if non anhydrous)

Ionization:
CuCl2•4H2O + H2O <--> CuCl+•5H2O + Cl-
CuCl+•5H2O + H2O <--> Cu++•6H2O + Cl-

Lewis acid/base:
Cu++ + H2O <--> (CuOH)+ + H+
Cu++ + 3Cl- + H2O <--> (Cu(OH)Cl3)-

Ligand displacement
CuCl2•4H2O + Cl- <--> CuCl3-•3H2O + H2O
CuCl3-•3H2O <--> CuCl4-•2H2O + H2O

Condensation
CuCl2•4H2O + CuCl2•4H2O <--> Cu2Cl4•6 H2O + 2H2O
Cu2Cl4•6H2O + CuCl2•4H2O <--> Cu3Cl6•8 H2O + 2H2O
