Many types of so-called junk foods contain high amounts of sugar, salt and fats which don't contribute much ~ if anything ~ to good nutrition.

As an occasional treat, eating something that tastes good but doesn't have a lot of nutritional benefit is OK, but eating it too much means you may not get the essential nutrients your body needs to remain strong and healthy.

Enjoy an occasional 'junk food' treat, but eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits, cereals and protein, for your real meals.

What are you talkin about, where did you get that idea. I just finished eating a Snickers bar, and snack and half, I do not feel bad, a little sugar rush though. Just forget about all the calories, sugar and salt in junk food, that is all a bunch of BS.

The problem with junk food isn't really the calorie or fat content, it's the relative lack of good nutrients in comparison to the presence of the bad ones. (Actually, there is no such thing as a bad nutrient, but we tend to get too much of certain things in our diet, and we classify those as "bad" to try to tell people to eat less of them.) Basically, most people don't get quite enough of things like vitamin D or Calcium. Since a healthy amount of food is about 1800-2200 calories/day, if you're eating a bag of chips with 200 calories and no vitamins, you just used 1/10 of your recommended intake of calories, and probably 1/3 of your intake of fat, but you didn't get any other nutrients. So the bag of chips is bad for you because it's unbalanced. Not only that, but it's unbalanced away from nutrients that you probably don't get often enough as it is.

Alot of junk food is high in fat and sodium which is not good for your heart, some foods are high in sugar and aren't good for you either. You should look at the Nutritional Facts listed on the box or package of every food item to see what items might be high in saturated fat, sodium, sugars. Anything that has sugar listed as the first ingredient is full of sugar and barely anything else.

Because everyone knows that fat is what makes food yummy (for the most part) and junk food has lots and lots of fat, which is why it's yummy. And since fatty foods are bad for you, junk food is bad for you!

Try eating an apple! It's delicious!!! :o)

Sometimes its very tempting to eat junk food instead of healthy food. A bag of chips, a cola and a candy bar seem so much easier to eat, and taste good too! Some facts about junk food can help you make your own decisions about whether or not to eat it.

First of all, some things that people call "junk food" are really good for you. Pizza, hamburgers, tacos, sandwiches, and ice cream are all very nutritious. If you think about it, they are made of cheese, meat, milk, and bread. These are all mentioned in the basic food groups listed later in this section. You can feel good about eating them.

Some other "junk foods" are not as nutritious. Candy, chips, and soft drinks are mostly made of fat and sugar. They have very little protein, vitamins and minerals. If you eat too much of them, you may find you are not hungry for foods in the basic food groups which give you what your body needs.

Junk food usually has a lot of calories. Eating foods with a lot of calories can make people gain weight. When you are infected with HIV, you may find yourself losing more weight than is good for you. Candy, cookies, and soft drinks may help you gain weight at these times. You can enjoy them along with foods from the basic food groups for extra calories and good nutrition too.

Junk food are usually full of salt/ sugar and trans fat. If your body puts on fat easily, junk food will definitely help you to put on even more. What is worse, the high salt and sugar content plus trans fat will affect your liver and heart and they will have to work much harder so that your body can continue to function. So, be kind to your body and avoid junk food!

Because of the ingredients put in it. There is more sugar, along with other unhealthy things in junk food than you can imagine. Eat healthy instead.
