Some magazines pay $20, others pay $2,000 or more. Get The Writers Market from your public library and look up individual magazines to see what they pay and what their article guidelines are.

It is a negotiation process, generally X- cents per word.
The book Writer's Market (yearly addition) gives an overview of magazines and what they pay per word. Usually they review a submitted article idea first.

Associated Content is an online site that pays for exclusive articles. They review your submission then offer a dollar amount for the whole. How they come to their offer, I'm not sure. But you get bonuses when people read your work, when others sign up under you, and subscriptions.

The pitch is that creating on the internet is in huge demand and you can earn up to $30 per website post, up to $200 day for proofreading, etc. In addition, when you join, you get an automatic novel author as nicely as an automated notion generator and automated report writer so is extremely hard not to do this task.
