my alternator plugin has two wires i need to know if both wiress surpose to be hot with the key switched on

The plug with 2 wires has one that goes hot with the ignition turned on.It connects to the field[or F1 they call it].The other turns on the warning lamp Don't jumper power in to that one.Of course,the large wire goes directly to the battery positive.

it sounds like you have a regulator problem if the regulator is sticking it will cause this problem.i am not sure but i don't think both wire's should be hot. hope this helps.

wildmann is right.......you can always change to a 1 wire alternator..........
