The way I always solve to find equations of lines is by using the standard form - y=mx+b. That way, I don't have to remember any other formulas. Since your slope is -3/4, and you have a point at (0,8):
m=-3/4
x=0
y=8
So, all you do is solve 8=(-3/4)(0)+b for b, finding that b=8.
Therefore, your equation is: y=(-3/4)x+8
The reason I do this is because, although it sometimes takes a little longer to find answers, you can find ANY line if given two points, or if given a point and a slope, The only difference when you have two points instead is to find the slope first by taking (y1-y2)/(x1-x2). So if you have (0,1) and (4,6), you would take (1-6)/(0-4) to find a slope of 5/4. Then you just use the process I described using one of the points and the slope to find the equation. Very simple :)

The slope-intercept form follows this formulation: y = mx + b the place m = the slope and b = the y-intercept. on the grounds that we are given the slope and y-int, merely plug them into the formulation: y = -3/4 x + 8. To graph, start up by making a element on the y intercept, (0,8). Then plot a pair greater desirable factors using the slope of -3/4. to do this, start up at (0,8) and pass desirable 4 factors, then down 3 factors. (With slope, the numerator tells you the way lots to bypass vertically, and the denominator tells you the way lots to bypass horizontally. on an identical time as a great slope might have you ever progression the two desirable and up or down and left, a adverse slope is the alternative: desirable and down or up and left. In different words, a great slope is going up whilst drawing the line from left to desirable. A adverse slope is going down whilst drawing from left to desirable. So the line will bypass interior the path of here coordinates: (0,8), (4,5), (8,2), etc. i wish this permits!

The y intercept slope equation is
y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y axis intercept.
In your case slope = -3/4 and b = 8
Therefore:
y = -3/4x + 8
or
y = 8 - 3/4x
