what you are looking for teresa is the setup.exe for the actual programs on the disk, not in windows#
to locate this is simple, insert the disk in question, then go to my computer and then right click the icon of the drive your disk is in,and then click explore
you will then see all the folders in the disk, somewhere in the list of files should be a icon named "setup.exe"
this is basically the start point when installing whatever is on this disk
when you find the setup.exe icon then click on this and the installation process will begin, make sure you agree to the e.u.l.a(end user license agreement)and then read carefully through the rest of the installation instructions
apart from setup.exe, windows instalation scan come in other types of format
winzip is a type of compressed file used when you need to compress a large amount of data into a smaller file
win-rar is similar to winzip but both are incompatible with each other
windows installer package is a specific type of program and requires you p.c to have windows installer 3.1 or above
allways remember to scan any setup.exe files with a up to date anti-virus scanner before you continue with installation
good luck mate!

Hi, you need to go to Start > My Computer and double left click the CD-Drive. This will then show all of the files on the disk and one of those will be setup.exe - double left click that and it will run the setup.

Do make sure that you know that these disks are from a trusted source as the file is .exe which is how viruses are transmitted. If in any doubt, right click the file and scan it with your anti-virus program, if you don't have any download AVG free from http://www.grisoft.com and http://www.ewido.net But so long as you trust the person who gave your the disk setup programs can always be located and run as above.

Try putting the first disk into the computer. It should open a window that shows you all the files on the disc. Hopefully there is a file on there with the name "setup". (It may not have the ".exe" after it, depending on a setting in Windows).

Double click on that file and it should install and set up the program for you.

if it is asking to go through setup.exe when you are trying to load from the CD then one problem is that it probably does not have that file on it. so that MIGHT be the problem but another way you can do to find the setup. exe file is to go to start, search, all files and folder (on the bottom of the panel on the left side click on advance search), then under look in select you D drive (which will be your CD-ROM or DVD- ROM) and under all or part of the file name type in setup.exe and if it does not find then the file was not on the cd that your daughter gave you to begin with.

Play it?

Do you mean install a game from CD?

If you CD failed to Autorun then in My Computer click on the CDROM drive and explorer it and locate the setup.exe file and double click it.

Also do the pre-install checks that "fuelpay" suggested, no sense in infecting your computer.

setup.exe tends to be a generic name for many installation files, including viruses.

It might help if you could be more specific about exactly what setup.exe you want, and what you expect it to install
