You can recover your media for sure, but how much of it can be recovered will depend upon the means you choose.
Most drive data, if they are lost due to formatting or deletion can be recovered using commercial (yes, you'd have to buy one or pirate it) recovery software. You can do it yourself by connecting the hard disk to a PC with a working hard disk. iolo Search and Recover is a good software to do so.

But, if your hard disk is not detected by Windows and the BIOS, you'd have to seek professional data recovery help. The recovery service people will dismantle your hard disk, take your disk platters and mount them on a working one or something and recover the files. That would cost you depending upon the service you choose.

Yes. You can recover all deleted pics videos media and other files and folders from Windows computer hard drive, or files lost after desktop/laptop hard disk reformat.
This is because that deleting or formatting won't make file's data on computer hard drive erased permanently. These file's data are just not accessible and hence the files are not readable. If you have deleted important files on your computer hard drive, the files are not deleted, as a matter of fact, just that index entry, FAT, or NTFS file system marked the storage of files as free so that new data can use the space to save the files. If you did hard disk reformat, computer system rewrited the FAT table or NTFS table which manages all the file storage process.
The best way to recover deleted formatted files and folders from PC internal hard drive is to download a hard drive data recovery program.

Do you mean that the hard drive crashed? It really depends. If the hard drive motor is shot, then no. Well, you can, but it will probably take sending the drive off to a professional data recovery provider that is very expensive. If it's just the boot sector, then it may be possible if you temporarily chain it into a computer that boots off a healthy drive.
If you have deleted the data, it's still possible to undelete the data using some free utilities available on the web.

I offer a service if you are interested in which you mail me the hard drive and then I recover the data and then make the hard drive re-usable (If it is re-usable) and then load the information back on the hard drive and back it up on a disk, and then I mail it back to you. I guarantee to be the cheapest person to do this for you.
If you are interested then feel free to email me.

yes, you can try. install a data recovery tool. note: the less you operate with the disc the more chances you have to recover all.
when you delete files you only mark them as deleted. recovery is possible only if no new data is written over.
