Check out "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" as it's the best book about Woodstock and the Hippie movement from the Hippie perspective.

There is a great documentary on the film. Called Woodstock They used a lot of the split screen. Cutting edge. On the History Channel sometimes. Sure you could rent it at one of the stores. You will really like it. It was about three hours long, if I remember correctly.
