Not usually. I have a really awesome job, and a great boss. If there is something I need to do during the course of my day, then I can just do it. If I need to take a longer lunch to go do my grocery shopping before I get home in the late afternoon, I can just go. Of course, I won't be getting paid for that time, but my time at work is very flexible...at least for right now. I think if I were to abuse that privilege, it would probably get taken away, but I'm usually here early, leave late, take my designated hour lunch to run my errands and come back to work.

It would depend on your state laws. If you are off 1 to 2 days in California, a note from a doctor is not required. If you are off 3 or more days, proof that you received professional medical help is required. It is assumed that if you were that sick, you had to go to a doctor.

If gone for more than 3 days in a row, a medical note was required saying it is OK to return to work.

YES!! At my job my insurance is paid for, and they think that gives them a right to ask for a doctors note when I call in (which isn't very often)
