yes it is here is an example

Communism's Theoretical Failures: Communism strives for the complete equality of all incomes, and therefore, everything. As income approaches complete equality, productivity disappears. For example: people work so they can make money to support themselves. They work driven by the incentive of making more money and succeeding. In capitalist systems, he who chooses not to work suffers the consequences while he who works receives the incentives, money, which he is working for. Human nature includes a desire to "do better" and, therefore, make more money or advance in a job. In an attempt to make more money, people are driven naturally work harder and longer, seek further education for themselves, and develop skills which distinguish them as rare talents among that labor which is available as supply. Under true communism, income is completely equal. When there is nothing to achieve by working harder or longer, people begin to become idle. People begin to work less or not work at all because there is no longer the incentive of making more money or advancing in job. When there are no workers, production drops to nothing. It will then be true that all incomes are equal but this equal income will be zero.

Don't run from it like the plague--there were one or two good ideas there, but no one has been able to get socialism to work in any country, and if you can't get socialism to work, you can't start being communist. Historically, attempts to move toward communism led to the opposite of what it was trying to acheive--rather than putting money and power in the hands of the people, it has always resulted power and wealth being consolidated among a few. Some capitalist nations have added some socialist elements, but the effectiveness and fairness of those programs is tough to judge this early.

Communism works in a well-run family, and maybe in heaven, but for a whole society here on earth--I don't see it working. The idea that each person should work to better society and should take what they need back from society sounds nice, but in reality people will take advantage of both ends of that--failing to work to better society (because the next guy isn't trying hard enough, so why should I), and with taking what is needed so that the wealth gets spread around (people want more than their neighbor has, or at least as much--imagine keeping up with the Jonses being government sponsored, or illegal). It just doesn't work on real people, except in tiny groups of people like families who really care about each other.

You are apparently not old enough to know what it really is and what i really does. More than likely under communism you would be arrested for your question. Or some other trivial thing you might say on here. Value your freedom. It is more important than you apparently think! Think everyone dressed the same marching along to the same drummer doing what we are told for the good of the government. Think not having a voice or a say in your life. Yes. It is really THAT bad.

If everyone were as altruistic as is assumed by communism, it would work. However, communism is probably the biggest misjudgement of human character ever, and true communism doesn't really exist, and never really has because it has always become a form of dictatorship, and not true communism. So, yes, its really that bad.

The problem with communism is that it just doesnt work out the way anyone would want it to. On paper its actually a very idealistic concept. However, in reality, it just isnt functional...or realistic. There will always be some type of heirarchy. Its a great idea, but its just that...an idea.

Well, if tens of millions of ppl dead over the last century as a result of communism doesn't qualify as bad, I can't imagine what would. It could even be as high as 100 million because it's difficult to get accurate numbers about China.

Yes.

Under communism you work for the state and the state is to take care of you from cradle to grave. In other words, the state takes on the role of parent and the general public the role of helpless children. This, IMHO, is a fundamental affront to what it is to be a human being, not to mention, as history has repeatedly shown, very prone to corruption among those in "authority".

PURE communism is not that bad, but, like any other system, is easily abused and what communism turned into was evil and cruel and vicious

sounds like you have an "enlightned" liberal college professor putting ideas into a pliable young mind
Liberalism is the enemy within our borders.

I can't tell you if it's good or if it's bad. You have to read about it and then form your own opinion about it. Don't ask people to tell you what you have to believe.
