Shaq by far because he haves won like 5 or 6 championships. And he just won one last year and he is pretty old so it is alot better. Yao is to weak. He cant hold the paint.

It depends. Right now, it is pretty close because Shaq is on the downside of his career. He still scores and rebounds pretty good and he is said to be the best passing center in the league right now. Yao is just a scorer, he doesn't even rebound much for how tall he is. Shaq is probably still a little better right now but in his prime, Shaq was the best of the two players by far. Plus Yao will never win a championship and Shaq has five or six rings from when he was with the lakers.

Shaq was better than Yao when Shaq was at his prime.
Shaq is getting old and Yao has yet to reach his potential.
Based on this season's numbers, Yao has been far more dominant than Shaq, although he missed some games with injuries. Yao is an 80% free throw shooter and can hit some jump shots. Shaq is about physical dominance. Today I would say that Yao is the most dominant center in the game.

Well Shaq will end up having the better career, but Yao is better right now. Yao can still get you 20 plus every night something it seems Shaq isn't interested in doing anymore. For all his titles remember that Shaq has been swept out of the playoffs 5 times more then any other player.

Shaq had his time hes getting old now. Yao is stil fresh so I think he is a much better player. Both do unique things for their team and could be said to be better than the other, but Shaq just isnt as good as he was on the Lakers

Take Yao now. Shaq was the best over the last 15 years, but Yao doesn't have anyone who can match up with him now. 25 points, 12 boards, altered shots, good passer. He's getting better, may not have peaked yet.

Shaquille O'neal hands down. Shaq is my favorite player in the world. He has 4 NBA titles and Yao has 0. Just ask yourself this question, Who do other centers fear the most?

IT's too difficult to determine becasue Yao scores and grabs ALOT of rebounds usually like 15 to 25 Rebounds a game and 88% of the time they won because of his spectacular plays
