they have a hard time understanding us? I had to interupt him several times to repeat what he had just said, due to his thick accent. What do you think?

Hello fellow Minesotian, I am from Canada and I moved to MN. Sometimes people from England have a very strong accent and I can not understand them, my great grandmother is from England (she passed away) I understood when she spoke but when I watched the movie pride and prejudice, I couldn't undertsand most of what they were saying. I wonder if our accent is hard to understand as well. We are just not used to it.

They often put subtitles on movies made in the UK where the actors have strong regional accents, and they need to do the same for some American movies shown in the UK. English is a very variable language and it is not at all suprising that it takes time to tune into an unfamiliar accent and vocabulary.

Americans are easy to understand but man you have some very weird accents. Especially the Texan one. It seems to take half an hour down there to say "hello".

Well if you were in Mn. & they were in London, that means you speak English & they speak some form of Arabic.
