Unfortunatly you cannot get rid of them with lotions or potions and most varacouse veins are heredetary. If your mum had them then you are likely to get them. To minimise getting them, put your feet up as much as you can, dont cross your legs, dont wear tight socks / hold ups and dont stand for long periods. To get rid of them, if they are really bad you can get them removed on the NHS by laser.

I don't know how much you weigh but i believe weight and health play a majore role in pregnancy problems. I am 8 mo. withno stretchmarks or vein problems...I actually have had no problems. I ran and walked up til 6 months and walk twice a day and bike now. I also have been doing toning with small amounts of weights on my arms and legs as well as using my body weight for toning my legs....along with eating healthy and not splurgning on crap food as an excuse.
I live in a country where this is common and most women stay skinny throughout pregnancy and have no problems like those in more overweight countries.

There's no way to get rid of them altogether, but my midwife suggested Vitamin E caplets (orally, as a supplement) because it helps with vein strength. This helped my varicose veins a litte, as did wearing good support hose and getting off my feet when they began to throb.
Something more drastic would be cosmetic surgery after delivery....but I think that's too expensive to be justified, and varicose veins are just a normal part of pregnancy for many women.
Unslightly? Yes.... I don't like em either!

There is no way to stop but you can do things that will lesson the chance of them showing...you should not stand in one place for a long time...you should never cross your legs and always try to elevate your feet... I heard witch hazel helps with the pain they sometimes cause...
